Super busy as always at UTP HQ but we try our best to keep innovating and remanufacturing parts that are no longer available.

One of those no longer available parts are FCR 39 and new to the line up, FCR41 Carbs.

We have sourced a batch of these both second hand good condition and Brand new in singles and are currently respacing them specifically for our Triumph Air-cooled twin engines.

We are also making our own Carb inlets, after 4 years of testing almost every inlet that Keihin made for the FCR carbs we found the best design and are making our own version. We should have 5 sets of these carbs in stockĀ  as of next week.

Unfortunately the stock of these will not last forever. We will continue to build these as long as we can but inevitably good second hand units will eventually run out.

This Brings us on to Lectron Carbs.

We are also currently testing Metering rod profiles to get the correct fuelling curve for the Bonneville. The Lectron Pro Series is a new product for Lectron in the 4 stroke market. They are still testing and creating new Metering rod profiles and will be for another couple years till they have a large range to cover all possible fuel curves.

We have designed custom inlet manifolds and we are also looking into a custom throttle actuation setup but until the correct fuel curve can be selected we can’t begin to supply these amazing carbs to customers.

These carbs have proved they can produce more power than the FCR39 but we will be testing the FCR41 performance shortly. We predict the difference will be down to single digits, so splitting hairs between the two.

Where the Lectron beats the FCR carbs is the transition from idle to 1/8-1/4 throttle. The transition is seamless because there is only one system controlling this whole section. The FCR has multiple overlapping systems controlling the lower end fuelling. This gives the Lectron an amazing “HIT” in performance that the FCR cant down low.

However the difference in everyday use would be minimal.

In short, the FCR is still our choice carb, hence getting batches made up until the Lectron kit comes to market.

More updates coming soon.
