Well after testing most brake upgrades on the market, we were not happy with the results.

Boiling brake fluid, Warping and cracking rotors, Crap brake pad material and not enough pressure.

The reality is that the lack of space between the fork leg and hub spokes on a T100 means that a compromise has to be had. The stock two piston sliding calliper was designed for a modest riding style but over 85rwhp and no matter what disc and pad combination we tried and it would eventually over heat massively. The Brembo SA pads we sell via the website are without doubt the best material for continuing bite at both low heat and high heat but the trade off is they do need to be replaced quicker than the other pads on the market. The down side of the great Brembo SA pad is it leaves the disc as the weak link. Stock discs warp so easily, so we recommend the EBC stainless steel floating discs. However this will only help so much. Blueing of the disc with repeated heavy braking is inevitable. However when we increased the disc by 10mm to Thruxton size, there is more material and it took longer to get hot. This then moved the heat soak back to the caliper. We also tried the Gold nissan 3 pot but is faired no better than the 2 pot. Slightly more initial bite but the caliper still boiled when it got too hot.

So we then tried the Pretech 6 pot caliper and the beringer four pot calipers. Both very pricey and both failed the tests.

Both were good with the correct brake pad material but the increased pad material on the pretech overheated the disc which then overheated the caliper. So the pretech was better for the initial brake application but again it would over heat. The Beringer was a better design with more fluid and larger pistons but again with the t100 smaller disc it would over heat the disc and then the caliper got close to over heating too.

So what’s the solution, well part of the solution is the larger disc but also more fluid, a larger calliper with more metal and larger pistons is the way to go but this requires a larger master cylinder too. So we approached our local Performance Brake Specialist Hel Performance.

Their V2 calipers are raced in British superbikes, do not fade over heavy track time, have double piston seals and bigger pistons with a caliper designed for high heat applications. They also have their own designed master cylinders that not only perform amazingly well but also look fantastic too!!

The levers come in three different sizes too so you can personalise the grip and feel. Span adjustment is via a click screw adjuster and matching clutch levers will be available shortly.

So, easy fix you say well yes but no!

The larger caliper brings us back to the size and space constraints. Which means there will be some models that the kit either will not fit or will not fit in standard format.

If you have Talon or envy hubs the kit will fit perfectly with the standard size Bonneville 310mm disc. If you have Dymag wheels or most after market wheels it will fit perfectly too but for all heavy sustained brake applications we recommend Thruxton Size discs 320mm, we are looking at larger discs but this cannot be bought off the shelf.

If you are running standard hubs then issues will be had and you will need to contact us to discus the changes you will need to make to utilise this kit.

We are now finalising the mounting bracket design and placing logos etc.

Expect the kits to go live in the next month or so along with the matching rear!!!

Matching rear caliper you say!!!!

Yes but this will be in the next news post as this has already gone on too long.

Get intouch if you wish to discus and preorder.
