UTP Modular Big brake kit.
For years we have been unhappy with the current aftermarket brake upgrades. over the last 10 years we have tested almost all available on the market and we were not impressed.
The first problem is the available space for the caliper on a stock hub. The small available space means all aftermarket calipers had to be very thin, this reduced size means the caliper doesn’t hold sufficient fluid to cool the pistons under repeated heavy braking.
Second issue, they all try to use the stock master cylinder. To do this they fit small pistons. Small pistons get hot quickly and the reduced caliper size means the pistons must be very short. Also reducing the amount of heat the pistons can take before overheating the reduced amount of fluid.
Third issue no dust seals!!! we live in the UK which salt and dirt are hard to avoid. The combination of problem one and two leads to problem 3, there’s no space for dust seals. so your very expensive caliper will scratch it’s bore surfaces and corrode requiring a new caliper instead of just a rebuild.
So how is our kit better?
We chose a properly designed braking system. Hel performance radial Master cylinder for amazing feel and power, Hel performance V2 brake caliper designed for a super bike. Offering great choice of pads, double piston seals, full rebuild capability and one of our favourite things!!!

So how does this fit in the “restricted space”?
Well the kits Modular, depending on your setup or performance requirements or price requirements.
Cast wheels, after market light weight hubs,Canyon motorcycle wheels,Dymag wheels all have enough space to be used with stock size discs. We do recommend Thruxton size 320mm floating discs but on a budget you can buy this later on and use the stock size for now. If at a later date you decide you want more braking, our system can go up to a 350mm disc. Which is a special order.

To get round the stock hub situation, there is only one option. Straight to 350mm brake disc. This isn’t a bad thing as it gives you the best brake setup straight away. However the Caliper setup will interfere with T100 mudguard stays. you can bend them to adapt but it won’t be a straight fit.
7/8 bars and 1″ bars.
7/8 bars are no issues, Thruxton carb models, Bonnie SE and Scrambler are a straight fit. Direct replacement for the stock item.
1″ Bars for the Bonneville and T100 have a couple issues with the switch gear that we have solved. The master cylinder is integral with the switch gear, we have machined a bracket that allows you to have the master cylinder side, without the master cylinder attached. So this now becomes a simple bolt on replacement. No modification required.
We do not supply brake lines as so many different bars and riser configurations have been used. If you do need a replacement line, please get in touch with Hel Performance Directly. They can custom make any colour, length or angled end you require.
Finally, because this kit is so modular to cater for all requirements. You will need to get in touch before ordering to make sure you get the right parts for your setup. Some setups require more parts so they will be more expensive but it will be pretty much a bolt on kit when it does arrive.
